On Saturday, January 21, at 2:00 p.m., several Justice & Equity Coalition members attended the Community Hearing for a Public Defenders Office in Wyandotte County.

District Attorney Mark Dupree spoke at the public Community hearing and many community members in favor of a Public Defenders Office in KCK.

The next step is the State Indigent Defense Panel has to vote to approve or not approve Wyandotte County having a Public Defender's Office. If that is authorized, a budget has to be set and approved. Then we could have a Public Defenders Office in Wyandotte County in 2024.
