Schedule Your Attendance Using this Link: Unhoused Listening Session

Committee Co-Chairs, Dr. Evelyn Hill, Andrea Tapia, and Rev. Steve Neal,

Above please see the dates for your committees upcoming listening sessions. Last evenings’ event was successful with 7 in person and 5 virtual participants sharing 1) who they were, 2) who they represent, 3) why they want to serve, and 4) what would they like to see happen.

From this information, your executive board (comprised of you all and any others Chairperson Lally identifies) will determine your committee structure; i.e., executive board, ad hoc committees, . These sessions are all hybrid and you can attend in person or virtually.

This is a Mayor sponsored community-driven initiative that will require several sessions to meet all of the residents who have an interest in serving. These sessions are intended to help you determine if, when, and where you could utilize them to make progress moving forward. The overall goal for the committees is to bring forth actionable recommendations that are budgetary considerations, ordinance additions or changes, or administrative practices or procedures to be improved or changed.

I have also attached a copy of the toolkit we have designed to help launch the committee. Please do not become overly concerned with the timelines. The bulk of the work in the first two-three months is ours in the Mayor's office and in administration. The Mayor and I will simply need to pick your brains and gain feedback from you to gain consensus on what happens next. After that initial meeting, your team decides your pace, timelines, and all other specifics moving forward. We are fully aware that this will be an organic process but we want to be certain that we launch in a uniform way to ensure we can track and publicly report on our progress over the next four years.

I am appreciative of your service and look forward to witnessing all that you are all to accomplish on behalf of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS unhoused residents and our neighbors in need. We believe with your help, we can do great things!

Feel free to call me if you have questions or concerns. Mildred
